Default 6l vs 4.8l

whats the difference, can a 4.8 be bored out as much as a 6l or no?

4.8 and 5.3 share the same block. The 6l is its own block. A 4.8 has same bore as 5.3, but a shorter stroke. The block can only bored out to a 5.7 with a stock 5.3 crank.
