No. its usually prefered since its easier to run more boost with lower compression, but high compression + boost = very high cylinder pressure which eqauls an *** load of torque. The problem is unless the engine is very stout you will crack the block or blow off the head.

inspect everything, bearings, cylinders etc. at least replace timing chain and oil pump. if youve got the funds, mahle pistons and eagle rods will make it all last longer.

Agreed. That said, 11:1 seems pretty aggressive. Do you tune your own rides?

Eh, maybe 10.5:1, im really just tossing around ideas at the moment, but it will definately involve a 6.0 block. Yea, I tune my own stuff with hptuners.

If you tune yourself, 11:1 might work okay -- just be really tune conservative for a while.

Personally, I'd stick with 10.5:1 or so. I doubt you'll feel any difference between that and 11 in sotp.

I think the only issue with such high compression and a blower is the fuel and fuel quality you will be running, I have had a Nissan V6 with 11.3:1 compression and a procharger with 8lbs of boost, but always had to run at least 94 octane, 104 was better!
If it's for the street I think 9.5-10 would be my choice, you never know when you will get a shitty batch of fuel from the gas station.

Agreed ---There is an trend to do "unnecessary" work on these motors. If it has good oil pressure, it doesn't a pump. Unless there is a ton of slack in the timing chain it doesn't "need" upgraded. Do a search on "low or no oil pressure" and count how many people caused their own problems by dicking with stuff during a cam swap, or "upgrading components" that were working just fine....

Its my opinion that a lot of mistakes that are made with changing oil pumps and timing chains are made because it is rather uncomfortable and akward to do that on an engine thats already installed. If its done before its installed I feel much better about it since it is much easier to work on.
