I agree, with the engine on a stand, replacing the oil pump, timing chain, etc. is a piece of cake.

BTW, I'd be a little scared to run 11:1 static compression in a boosted application, 10.5:1 is as high as I would go, and that's with a rich, conservative tune

Yea im thinking 10.5 is more reasonable. Definitely a boost over the 9.5 of the LM7.

An LQ4 with flat top pistons and 317s would be around a 10:1 if im not mistaken, how much should be milled to bring that to 10.5:1? Im thinking a 4.03" bore is pretty sexy as well and gives me the option of bigger valves.

now a 408 stroker is looking appealing. I need to stop before this gets too expensive

An LQ4 with flattop would be basically be a LQ9 and have 10:1 CR.

I would keep the dished pistons. Re-ring, new main/rod, bearings, oil pump, timing chain and arp rod bolts. Add boost and enjoy!

10 to 10.5 compression. overdrive the 1900 with an 8-rib and have fun.

Richard at WCCH told me to take .036 off of my StageII 317's to get 10.6:1 on my LQ9, but the StageII's have about a 74cc combustion chamber after the cnc bowl work that they get...so with unworked 317's you'll take less than .030 off...maybe .020 if I were to "guess"...
