It is hard to tell, but is it just light corrosion? Is there a deep scratch there too? Can you explain what got you to where you are at? Is it a new rebuild, honed or bored? Did you do a compression check before the tear down?

Guy bought it and took the heads and I got the block so dont know the condition beforehand. Claims to have less than 40k on it. There is a gouge above the corrosion and thats what has me concerned. You can feel it without trying.

It looks like the engine sat for a long time with water in that cylinder, and then had a hone ran through it.
