Default 502, 540 etc..

This is on down the road but i figured id start asking a few question.

We are going to be installing a whipple on 8.1L (496ci) motor. From what ive gathered these are sorta one off motors. There are not a lot of parts out there and heads are very expensive....

So if i have a motor issue on down the road i was thinking about going bigger with it.. but it seem like thats not a option do to parts..

What im wondering is what about doing that 502 block then stroking it to 540ci motor.. do set of heads, then reinstall the whipple.

Or if you have any other ideas im game..

If its a 2.3, it should be way too small. They use those on 5.4 fords. But if its a 3.3 I would think it would work. But damn, talk about torque!

The 8.1 has many similarities to the GEN V/VI bigblocks. Firing order is different, but you can swap roller cams between the families to fix this.

Guys have used the 4.37" 8.1L crank to build stroker engine in the 454/502 blocks.

You would be better with a 572. Both the 572 and 8.1l are tall decks. The engine mounts bolt pattern is different. Accessory's are different too.
I saw a article some time back. They did Whipple 3.3 on a 572. 8 psi it made 1000hp.
