The stock manifolds aren't that restrictive.

judging by the pic the manifolds arent that bad, are there a certain manifold to look for? I think mine have some kind of air tube coming out of them.

and what is your opinion on taking off the cats and putting in a simulator? will it flow more? and is it worth it?

That's the EGR system you're seeing on the passenger side manifold. I would keep it in your case as it can help reduce cylinder temperatures and reduce knock under heavy towing conditions. You'll be fine with the stock manifolds you have now.

Taking the cats off may or may not help, it's up to you if you want to keep them or if you need them to pass inspection. And O2 simulators are not sold anymore, so you'd need to get them tuned out with the custom tune if you did that.

I bought some simulators a while ago, I had a engine light on and said it was the right bank O2 system. I just never put them in cause the light went out and it started to run better. so i never cut them off then.

Long tube headers do the same thing as stock manifolds too, that is get the exhaust gas out, but they're just more effecient. Yes long tubes will make more Hp but shorties will make more torque down low even at part throttle, I know this from experience. I like how everyone talks down on shorties but most have never had them, or they had inferior ones. Its all about sizing the headers correctly for your motor and where you want the power.

Our stock manifolds are better then years past, but that doesn't mean they can't be improved upon even with shorties. As you can see three ports go to the same tube. Same thing goes for cams, size it correctly for your motor and what you want to do with it. Bigger isn't always better, even if it makes more Hp up top.

Again I'm no expert but I've learned a few things throughout the last few years that made me do more research and double check if what I'm gonna do will be worth it for what I want out of my vehicle. Just trying to give you more then one side, or whats more common on this site.

Shouldnt lose any just gain. You cut your stock y pipe right before the cats and weld on flanges and the mid lengths bolt right up.

**** spending 600$ on a set of shorties. Not gonna notice anything with shorties.

If you're interested in a direct bolt in shorty with an EGR provision, I have a set of Gibson stainless shorties that I removed from my truck when I installed my StainlessWorks long tubes...they were over $500 when I bought them a long time ago. PM me if interested

And I still say that you'll benefit with a cam like mine, as I mentioned, I've felt improvements on the street and track throughout the RPM range...this is just my personal real life experience
