Default 5.3L or 6.0L?

Hello everyone... this is my first post here aside from the introduction... well I have a 2001 RCSB Silverado 5.3L and I want more power... the 5.3L on the truck has 120xxx miles. I would like to know what should I do for more power? I will be using this truck as a daily, sometimes taking long trips 400+ miles... hauling boats and that type of stuff... should I build the motor I have now? go up to a 6.0L? buy a new 5.3L or buy a new 6.0L and build later on (the reason why I say a new 5.3L or 6.0L is because I could get them for stupid money BRAND NEW! Any input would be greatly appreciated. Oh! btw my goal would be anywhere between 600-700 to the wheels.

If you can get a 6.0 for dirt cheap, build the 6.0. Usually the price difference between a 5.3 and a 6.0 is what keep people from going bigger CI, but if the price doesn't matter, always start bigger.

for 600-700 on a DD, go ahead with the 6.0. it won't have to work as hard as a 5.3 would

Turbo the 5.3.

To make that kind of power to the wheels, you'd have to boost a 6.0.

Or you'd have to build a h/c/i stroker, if you wanted to stay N/A. I wouldn't want to daily a N/A engine making that kind of power anyway. Not saying you couldn't though.

I swapped the 4.8 out of my rcsb for a cammed 6.0. I like how my truck runs, don't get me wrong. A turbo'd 4.8 would blow my doors off. And probably be more street friendly.

Either way he will have to boost it to reach his goals; the 6.0 will be the more livable and reliable option at that power level, so it is the logical choice.

thanks for the replies... after searching the forums I'm a little confused about what to start with... those 4.8L's are making stupid power, with a stock bottom end. Would it be better to turbo a 5.3L or a 4.8L, stock bottom end would be nice too. Does that 4.8L have thicker cylinder walls than the 5.3L?
