5.3 cam swap
#1
I have 2006 GMC Sierra that I am about to put a cam in. The cam is the GMPP gen 3 hot cam PN 12565117. .525 lift on both sides 112 LSA. The kit comes with LS6 springs. Installing the cam is easy but hiw do I tune it? Will this cam be too much for the stock ECU? I have already installed Pacesetter shorty Hradders, K&N cold air intake, 3in Flowmaster cat back wit a Summit cut-out, Motorvation throttelbody spacer ( witch did nothing and was a waste of money), and the Hypertech PP3. It came factory with 3.73 and a limmited slip. 14.97 @90mph is the best so far. I just need some tuning help.

I recently did the hot cam and I'm very pleased with it. It runs like *** on the low end with the "stock" tune, up top this cam pulls really good, midrange is excellent as well. With my SD tune I fucked up second gear, so no times/numbers with it yet
. The cam overall performs well and the nice thing about this cam is the LS6 springs are virtually "maintenance free" so no worries about replacing the springs any time soon.
BTW, that cam's exhaust duration (227*@.050) will help with your current exhaust restriction, but longtube headers are a definite advantage. If you have any questions about the hot cam at all just lemme know and I'll help ya
Also, I'd recommend Charlie (Wheatley) to tune it for you. He's a great guy and knows what he's doing. If you don't want to do a mail-order tune then finding a local tuner to do some dyno-tuning on it would be optimal. It's worth the 300-600 by far.
