5.3 Cam Choice For Towing Stock 80e Converter
I’ve been doing lot of research on truck cams and I was wondering what cam everybody was running with their stock converters? I’ve got a 99 1500 z71 that I 4l80e swapped. Installed headers and found some broken manifold bolts so I’m swapping in my extra 5.3 I’ve got and figured I’d slap a bump stick in with it.

Small.
Anything around the 212/218 size on stock converter is your best bet. Large than that you need a converter.
Also don't forget about fueling. 1999 runs the smallest injectors, you'll need larger ones with a camshaft upgrade.
