cylinder walls look brand new still have the hone marks from when it was built i was surpised being it has 100k on it
yes it was an odd chirp squeak noise no misfires ran fine
how do i get the low lift version just email comp cams and ask if they have a low lift version or can someone send me a link?

as for a budget the I'm at 800 now with lifters gaskets fluids etc..
I wish i had just got a new jasper for 2400 at this point cause with a cam ill be at 1600 and still need a tune bringing me close to 2000.....

I would inspect the bearings in this motor before I spent a dime on it. All those little metal chips tend to ruin bearings or a least when this same thing happened to me it ruined my motor.

I run the LS6 springs with the bigger brother of that cam. the 216/220 .525/.532.

When I did my head and cam swap I don't think had anywhere close to 2k into it.

Lifters - $130
Heads & Pushrods - $480
TSP Cam swap gasket kit - I think this was like $40
Cam - $250
Timing chain and gear - $75
E-Fans - $160
Long Tubes - $280
ARP Head bolts - $120
Cometic head gaskets - $140

I already had the tune from Blackbear, so I just had to get an updated tune.

Scan the classified, and you may be able to find this cam used, they, and similar other cams come up seems like all the time.

I would just go with a mild low lift cam and LS6 springs with hardened pushrods. This should help keep the cost down.

If you are still following your thread I would strongly suggest you replace the lifter trays in that engine. I showed my lifter ti a gm mechanic yesterday and he told me to check mine for a crack. He said the best thing to do if rebuilding the engine was also replace the plastic lifter trays.

We've done two 6.0/late LS1 cam swaps into 5.3's now, and am impressed with the TQ gains! Very good gsain for how easy it is, you can re-use the stock pushrods/springs too! The stock 5.3 cam is 191/190 duration and the 6.0/01-02 LS1 cam is 197/208-ish duration. Gain of 18* on the exhaust side!
