Default 5.3 cam ?

Hey everybody im new to the site and did a search for different cams for my 2006 5.3(l33) motor and found too much info to help me..lol.. I got more confused. The truck is my daily driver but i live in the country so the big city driving wont affect me. I dont mind a rough idle infact I love the lobe. I love speed and that is what im looking for in the cam. What is the best choice for me and where should i get it from..also what else do i need along with it?

Lots of variables here... It depends on what kind of power you're wanting, what other mods you're willing to do, and specifically what your truck is, weight, reg cab, ext cab etc etc... We really need more info to help you.

It is a 2006 silverado 5.3 l-33 with 3.42 gears, muffler delete, tbs and flashpaq which i wont be using with the cam because i cant. It is an extended cab short box. I will be adding long tubes and an intake before the cam so what cam will work good with those mods?

220 220 581 581 114, great low tq and hp to boot, get a 2800 converter to get that z71 moving. long tubes and intake will help it out.

Does anyone else have an opinions? How will this cam sound at idle? Where do you recommend I order the cam and stall converter?

do a search for 220 and your answer will be solved, get a PI2800 triple disc, good luck.

I am pretty much in the same boat with him. I have an 05 5.3, it has an AEM Brute Force intake, 3.73 rear end, and just a magnaflow exhast. I also sent the computer to pcmperformance.com for reprogramming. I will be soon adding a FAST intake, headers with dual flowmaster delta mufflers, and a cam. Just wondering the best way to go about doing everything including getting the computer reprogrammed a little cheaper. Thanks...

A FAST from what I have read in a truck is a waste. True duals with Flowmasters won't flow any better than the Mangaflow you have now. I think in a lot of your mods you will be spending money you don't need to. Do some searching before you order anything JTBrewer19.

I bought the truck with the magnaflow. It has a super raspy sound. The guy that I bought it from took out the cats to "give it better sound" and he said that he could tell a little more power but now a horrible sound. The muffler was put on as soon as he bought the truck in 05. So it probably wouldn't hurt to change it. I am going to be putting pacesetter long tubes on it in just a couple of weeks and just assume run true duals. As for the FAST intake, sorry I didn't tell you that my buddy has one that includes everything that he wants to sell me for like a hundred dollars. He said that he could not tell a difference with it until about 5500rpm. I figure try it with my setup and if I do not like it sell it on LS1tech for a little more.

Best I've heard IMO is the TR220 112LSA sounds good, runs good, and a good price. You can run with a lower stall and LS6 springs too
