I've used the JPR cam tool, it works great Best valve spring tool is the Crane/Vinci tool by far...not sure how the Lingenfelter tool works though.

I'd go with a cam like the Trick Flow 216/220. It is a .560 lift which makes it LS6 spring friendly and it's on a 114LSA. The part number is TFS-30602001. Really with a 4.8L even the stock cam needs some converter, but 220 and less is all I'd do with a 4.8L without 3200 or more stall.

If you might be interested in a 5.3 I have one out of an 07 OBS 13K miles make you a good deal.
