Default 5.3/5.7 piston options with 945 pin?

Just like the title says. What are my cast/hyper piston options when using stock Gen 4 rods with 945 floating pin? I'm trying to find out if I could bore a 5.3L to 3.905" without having to spend $500 or more on pistons.

If not, what are my 5.3L cast/hyper piston options?

Nobody?

All I see are sealed power hyper or KB hyper pistons for stock rods and 5.3 bore. Will one of those hold up as well as the stock pistons in a NA motor?

What are my forged piston options with a stock rod? 5.3 or 5.7 bore. I'm trying to get to 10:1 so I can run 87 octane gas with 862 heads. The Weisco junkyard dog pistons are either 6cc dome or 11 cc dish, so no help there.

Swapping to a aftermarket rod/799 head combo with flattop forged pistons isn't in the budget. I keep hoping somebody made a forging for stock 5.3L that will give 10:1 with 57-61CC heads....

i went with a full manley rotating assembly. why are you wanting to keep stock rods and crank?

you are going to find a scarce amount of guys on here who have done the 3.905 bore on a 5.3L. most of us are smart enough to use a 6.0 block and build a 370 or 408. i am just not one of those guys.

Do you know how much it cost to bore the block from 3.78 to 3.905 that's a 0.125 bore which is dramatic. Might be easier and cheaper just to get a used 6.0 and have it refreshed up.

What year is the 5.3 block?

i paid 500 bucks to have my block sonic cleaned, bored, magnafluxed, and have the cam bearings installed. i think it was 15 bucks per cylinder for the bore. not alot of money.

$500??? That's not a bad price at all. F*** my machine shop haha they want around $800-900.

Do you have any over heating issues? My buddy bored his 6.0 0.03 and stroked crank to a 408 and he has over heating issue nothing major, but has to keep an eye on it. I don't know if it was due to the loss of metal from the bore or the nature of a stroked crank

Found one idea:

AUTOMOTIVE - GM LS 4800 & 5300 VORTEC

These would get me where I need to be. They are pretty spendy for the HP goals. Do I really need forged pistons for a 10:1 NA truck motor? I could do this a lot cheaper with a set of hyper speed-pros and milling the heads. The only reason I'm looking at them is they can survive a tuning mistake better than a hyper piston if I got into detonation.

How high are you guys running compression on 87 octane? I'm seeing the LS guys running north of 11:1 on 93, so I'm curious what the limit is on 87?

IF you are staying n/a you don't need forged, you don't even really need forged for low boost either. If 87 is the best you can run, I wouldn't go any higher than 10:1, the higher in compression you go with lower octane the more possibility of knocking which will lead to having your tuner lowering the timing advance.

High compression with low timing advance b/c of low grade fuel is not the way to make power. Better to have 9.5-10:1 compression on 87 with 20*+ of advance then 87 octane on with 11:1+ compression. Especially in the hot summer time. The general idea at least.

He has the 05 or 06 fans, but has the stock 187* thermostat. I'll mention the 160 idea to him. Mainly during the brutal Texas summer heat is when the problem will occur at idle with the fans on. Maybe they are not running at max power?
