what is the best oil pump/timing chain combo to use?

 

im going to use an ls6 pump and double timing chain set

 

does that require any grinding on the pump or cover? thats what im trying to ovoid!!

 

The timing set includes small spacers for the pump, but I havent checked clearence on the timing cover yet. It seems some do and some dont, and if there is any, it is very minor.

I agree. With my 408 I'm going to run a stock chain and a D.O.D. pump. I'd recomend picking your timing chain based on how much spring pressure you plan to run. The more spring pressure you run, the more load it takes to turn the camshaft.

 

Been using 05+ timing chain and ported melling oil pump for 3 years now. I'm sure there is better but that has worked for me.
