Default 408 Build Questions

Im thinking that I want to put a nice 408 in my project 70 chevelle. I want it to be all forged and low compression. I plan to run either a big procharger or a turbo setup. Id like to shoot for the 650-750 rwhp range. What rotating assembly and heads do you all suggest. Do you think the whole motor from oil pan to intake could be built for 5000? that would not include the FI setup obviously....

You will be pressing that barrier VERY easily. I got 7 into my old 418 setup thats with DART heads that are relatively cheap(1K).

Wow.....7k? I can get a lunati rotating assembly for 3200. I know i need a block, cam, intake, heads, and all the accessories...Forget about the prices. What would everyone recomend for a solid long block setup...heads, pistons, crank, and rods.

All that **** adds up quick man. Ill have 1400 tied up in just my vic jr intake and 4barrel tb. Depends on how crazy you want to get with it. Eagle rotating assemblies seem to do fine, Lunati is better though. I like the Edelbrock 245 WCCH heads.

Alright, if im going to buy a new block is there a differance between the LS2 block on the 6.0L iron truck blocks? The truck block is half the money but probably double the weight.

The knock sensors on the ls2 go into the side of the block. For high HP, the iron block is said to be more rigid. Check out the GMPP block if you are looking at iron, it is more money but you might have a 500 inch LS1

Do you go to the 6.200 or 400 rods to clear the 4.125 crank?
