EVERYTHING will work.

going to a ls1/ls6 car style intake manifold will require a few more parts to make work.

pistons are a different bore size and therefore require you to bore out your block to fit ls1 pistons.

not sure but i think the ls1 cranks are the same as a 5.3L but the 4.8 crank is different i think (shorter stroke, its either the crank or the rods, one)

ALL other parts will interchange including heads

ok.the 4.8L crank is different.will the crank fit though?what will it take to use a ls1or 6 intake manifold?

yes the crank will fit.

to use an ls1/ls6 intake manifold you have to either completely swap to fbody front accessories or: make an idler pulley relocation bracket, press the truck pulley onto the f-body water pump, and get a complete intake w/ fuel rails injectors and injector pigtails

B/c heres my idea.i can get a LS6 crank, cam, roller arms, springs.timing chain.oil pump.put that in my engine.get the heads port and polished.LS1 intake manifold if possible.then bore the block to fit Forged LS1 or differnt kind pistons and rods.Hoping to get around 400hp then 50-100 shot of nitrous to round up 500hp.good idea or not?

IF you really want to stay with the 4.8 block sure.

if not get a 6.0 pullout add a cam and valvetrain and maybe some heads while your at it. you now have that 400hp without cracking the shortblock and will take a 150shot with a good tune. and will probably have less $$$ invested

btw, the truck intake flows better than the ls1, get the ls6 or TBSS/SSR intake or the FAST90

Don't waste your money or time on an LS1 intake manifold.

Here's some flow data from Richard @ WCCH:

This has the makings of a budget built iron 5.7L, which is probably not a bad way to go. There are several others who have either done this or at least considered it. The 4.8 and 5.3 blocks are the same, so you're not losing anything there. The stock cranks are supposedly good up to about 600 hp with a good set of rods and pistons. Again, the only problem I see with your plan is the LS1 manifold. Waste of $$, as you would be better off with your stock truck manifold. If you really wanted to top off your build you should do as nightrunner suggested above, go with either the LS6 or FAST manifold.
