Default 383 Stroker Cam Choice

Well....looks like I lost a lifter so I'm having the shortblock refreshed (383 Stroker) w/AFR 230 heads and am currently running a TSP cam 224/228 .581/.588 114 cam but am looking at either the 228R or their Stroker Cam which is 244/248 .615/.615 112 - any advice would be helpful. Looking to keep her NA for a bit so wanting the most out of her as possible. Rest of mods are in my SIG. Thanks.

I'd stay away from that 244 cam. That is really meant for 400ci+ engines. It would probably work but you would have to rev it to the moon.

I'd keep the current cam honestly. If you want to change it and just spend money, get one on a 111-112lsa.

My .02.

Yeah - I hate to spend the $ but I lost a lifter and scuffed the cam - so it goes. Will most likely go with the 228R since I drive this thing daily. Thanks for the input - I really appreciate it.

TSP suggested their 233/239 .600 @ 112 - might go with that. What LSA are you running on your cam?

How long have you been running that 2300 on your stroker? Can't decide if I want to go boost or just keep it NA - its my daily driver (when it isn't on the rack) so...

Cam selection is largely dependent on what you want to do. Na/FI

Terravasts cam is actually a middle of the road. It's more suited for na with the small exhaust bias however will still compliment a boosted setup. On the 383 it takes a bit more consideration imo, reason being you add CI but don't gain the bore increase to facilitate the larger 4" bore heads without having valve shrouding. Timing the valve events to optimize the increase in piston speed is beneficial.

Pretty set on staying NASCAR for a while so will problem go with TSPs suggestion. I appreciate the help on this. Still learning the ropes and loving every bit of it...not the bleeding of $ part but everything else is cool 😎
