well i want to get my 383 build on the way. but i ran short on money for a cam for now. if i go ahead and build it and put my stock cam in there for it'll be ok right? then i'll put the cam i want in there when money comes around.

Wait and get the cam not worth the work IMO to cut yourself short.

 

You will be disappointed if you put your stock cam in it but you can do it. Your powerband will probably be from idle to 4k.

 

If you've already spent the money on a 383, what's a few hundred more for a good cam?

 

its not that the cam cost alot. its that i don't have the money. i'm a broke *** navy dude with 3 kids and one on the way. so i have to do what i can when i can. i'm about to be on vacation for 30days and i need something to do. i got to build a eng for my honda already. but i'm gonna have the stuff for my 383 with me. it cost me less the $2,000 so far for the stroker kit, ls1 block, and ls1 heads. i ran out of cash along the way so i can't afford the cam springs and lifters at the moment.
