Default 305 heads

So I know it's cheaper and easier to get hp out of a 350 but I havea 305 in my truck right now. My dad bought a 350 with flat top pistons and 305 heads that h e been decked .075 but a piston went bad and messed up the cylinder. So what would happen if I put those heads that have been decked .075 on my stock 305? Just curious.

Well, you might actually get some low end torque out if it, haha. What year of truck?

Do you know the duration at 0.050 and lsa? It's sounding a bit big so far, depending how aggressive the lobes are.

At 0.050 it's 224 and lsa is 114. I found this one (288/298, Lift .444/.466 214 intake and 224 exhaust lsa 112). The basic operating Roma are 1600 to 5200...for a stock converter would that be ok or do I want one from idle

sbc cams rpm range is usually based on a 350. that cam will be pretty aggressive in a 305. The milled heads will help some if you use that cam but honestly, a big cam in a 305 in a 4x4 is not going to be practical. If you keep the stock converter it will likely be a slug taking off. You would also need to consider the gearing. If it's just a toy go for it. If you plan to use it for daily transportation and truck duties i'd stay away from that combo.

It's going to be a daily driver. I just want a little more power and torque for towing and I want it to be responsive, while preserving as much mpg as possible.

i had an 86 trans am and i put the ho l69 cam and 1.6 rockers in it and it ran great with performer intake 600 holley and hooker headers. 305s dont like anything bigger than a rv 350 camshaft with stock converter.
