He's not joking... it's really hard to keep your money in the wallet or bank if you stay here too long.

Just my 2 cents worth.........not sure how much power difference you'll see between the two heads assuming the compression stayed equal. There are some slight differences in flow curves, but with the intake manifold bolted on I'm thinking it will equalize the flow and therefore power potential of both heads.

Good luck with your build Bud!

Thanks Richard! The only thing that's holding me back is money lol...being broke is giving me too much time to change my cam choice again and again and again

I'm not selling my nice WCCH StageII 317's no matter what though, some day they'll be bolted on top of my LQ9

I'd go with the 243s myself, at leave the deck height stock. That gives you compression AND the ability to run the biggest cam possible without flycutting.

Furthermore, I hope to see this project completed before I keel over.

Trucks don't need big cams to make them fast and fun to drive. Cams that produce high torque averages under the peaks do a better job pushing the weight of the truck around.
Bud, the nice thing about your heads is that they don't go rotten sitting around waiting to be installed Take your time and do it right.

Thank goodness for that Richard...my only plans for the heads are to mill them .030 or .040 to get the compression up, and swap out the new yellow LS6 springs that are currently on there for either some PAC 1218's or some duals (either PRC or Lunati), depending on what cam I end up going with. At the moment, I'm considering either a Comp 224/230 .581/.592 112, or the EPS TT3 which is 224/230 .609/.607 111...if I get the Comp I'll go with the PAC's, if the EPS I'll probably get some duals...we'll see when the time comes. If my father hasn't retired yet, he can get me a killer deal on a Comp grind.

Do you think that it would be prudent of me to install new valve seals when the time comes since they've been sitting so long? The heads have whatever seals you installed in them (viton?)

No need to replace the seals. However wash the heads thoroughly before reassembling after milling.
