Truckshop, a member here asked if i could mill his 243 heads down to install on his 5.3l 3k yank, 220/220 cammed truck. We shall see how he likes the power as soon as he throws them on!

I have been kicking around that idea or just milling the 5.3 heads. Keep us posted on how you like them.

i put them on friday. i am still playing with tuning but it runs great. the cams sounds way bigger than it is. but i love the way it sounds.

 

What vehicle are the 243 heads off of? What all can they be found on? What is the valve size diff. than the 5.3? http://texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=84&catid=40

 

I have been told the compression on a 5.3 is either 9.5 or 9.9, what compression is he looking at with those heads milled?

 

the ones i got are off of a tbss. they are ls6 heads with 2.00 intake valves.they have a bigger chamber so you have to mill them so you dont loose compression. at .040 it should be around 10.0 to 10.5. i didn't measure them so i don't know exaclty what the chambers came out to.
