Not sure what hemi's you have been running??.... 15.01... I've had plenty of hemi cars beat my 03 in my sig and it ran a 14.5 the very first time at the track when i was stock. Only had borla mufflers, handheld programmer, w/ 2.2-2.4 60/ft. Don't take it the wrong way. I'm just shocked that someone is bragging about not being beat with a 15.01 et when there are hemi cars/trucks that are clearly faster than that stock thats all.

15.01? What track? Must be at really high elevation like Colorado or New Mexico.

Hell my stock rcsb '03 4.8 truck, back in like 2005, the one and only time I took it to the track ran a mid 15. I sure never bragged about that, or ran at a track again.

Gear first.
Then torque convertor.
Then pick a cam.
And I sure as hell would not put a 227° or larger cam in a 5.3 truck. A 220°/224° .581"/.585" 112°+4° (108° ICL) would be about as big as I would want to go on a 5.3 daily driver truck.

What this guy said. Gears are the best thing you can do to these. I put in my 4.88s 1st and then later down the road came the stall and then the cam. Gear were still the best thing I ever did for it. As for going big on a cam low 220s like a 220/224 duration LSA 114 is about as big as you want to go for a daily. If you got big gears though something like 227/241 is doable but you need a low LSA like a 110-112 to make up the torque curve.

everyone has a different tolerance to daily drivable I guess. I like big cams. 224 is not big.

Just going to use garrison's old truck (lamborado, bottlefed, whatever it was called lol)
He had a 5.3 with 3600 stall mild heads and a 224/228 .581/.581 LSA112. It was a pretty cool driver and he ran great times at the track. He wasn't the only one either. It was a very popular cam at one point. Especially if you ever plan on spraying.

This is true. In a 5200lb+ 5.3 truck though something "Big" like 227°+ will be lazy unless you get up on the torque convertor at every stoplight hahahaha.
