Default 2008 Vortec Max L76 engine uprgrades, cam ect.

i have a 2008 Vortec Max Lt with a 6.0 L76, i have about 3k for upgrades t the moment wand was wondering whats the absolute most hp i can get for 3K, and how to get there? unlike most i don't care about fuel mileage, i just need to kick my brothers 6.7 cummins with a H&S Tuner. my previous truck was a 2007 vortecmax ported and polished with just about everybolt on possible but it began to be pretty much a race truck with 38's and i blew it up.

i was looking at the trickflow top end kit but wasnt too sure on fitment or if its worth it, lening more towards cam, but im running 33x13.50 mud terrains and 4 inch lift, also dont know about exhuast headers ect.

any input will help, Thanks

Save a tad more and get a used magnacharger along with a shift kit and basic trans upgrades. Your tranny will hate it's life, but that's your quickest route to easy success.

From there all the mods will help even more. Headers, a blower cam, pullies, etc... You get the idea

For 3k, id start with headers, tune, straight through muffler, and a stall..cam swaps can get a little pricey..gotta figure in the cam, pushrods, lifters, valve springs, gaskest, and other little nic nac ****...if its one thing ive learned while building my mud truck is that the nickel and dime stuff you need adds up quick!!

Agreed with vortec350ss. I have alittle over 3k in bolt on mods and if i could do it again i would save up for a used blower.

i have 4.10 gears and i want to run the borla xr1 muffler, or the slp loudmouth with flowmasters scavenger headers, does Hypertech Max energy produce the most hp? my old chevy for 42 extra hp from it and was wondering if theyre still the best, i want to supercharge it but i dont know what else needs to be done after i do the mods

also, ive seen that prochargers bring more power overall, i dont tow much so it dont matter, plus the roots style make the engine block super hot verses the centrifugal witch is cooler. also i really dont wanna pay out the a** for something that only adds alittle power, i want atleast 600hp and wanna get there as easy and cheap as possible, so far the procharger is my top pic but cant find the part number for a 2008 nnbs silverado 1500 6.0

I'd do a cam stall and tune. I would ditch the DOD and VVT before you boost it. Those lifters are prone to failing in factory set ups let alone under boost.

IMO...600hp isnt gonna come CHEAP, no matter which way you look at it..you have 4.10s so thats one thing going for you...as far as headers id look at ARH, Kooks, and pacesetter..a custom tune will be needed as well..a ordinary "programmer" wont benefit you

if its cheap and reliable its not fast

if its fast and cheap its not reliable

if its fast and reliable its not cheap!!
