I find my self thinking about this all the time. The golden rule is that if we wanna make ~500 wheel or wanna rev up to 6k, that these dod lifters are a weak dangerous point. When I'm ready to turn mine up I'll be swapping for ls7 lifters and prolly a boost cam.

Why go through all the labor and money to make power and not have it reliable or always worried about laying into it. Right now I barely go into v4 mode in my daily commute but when I jump on the thruway it kicks right in and works great (except the drone). Average 20 mpg at a reasonable speed and load. Where in v8 mode I might be stuck around 17. This is where logic comes in. If u want a 500 hp turbo full size truck then you can't expect crazy mileage and stock parts to hold up to a combo thats making 300 more hp than it was designed for. Better safe than sorry.
