i'd go with the 3600 stall to might as well do it right the first time unless you plan on going forced induction i went with a 3000 the first time and wasn't enough for that explosive feel off the line the 3600 is a total different ball game its great. if you plan on going all out in the near future maight as well go with a 4l80e to save you alot of money and time like said above.

my opinion 3000is enough to wake a 224/230 cam, and if u want explosion like he said get like a 200 shot of n2o or something lol, for dd stall run as big as u wanna but 3000 is plenty virgil(mean03) he has a 233/238 i believe and he only running a 3200 if i not mistaken and i had a 220/220 cam and i was going to run a 3000. but 3000 the way id go

Ok. I'll put it this way. You need a stall that on the money or a little loose. My Yank TT3000 was a great stall, But it was tighter than the zippers on a Michael Jackson Beat it Jacket, lol. This Yank SS3600 I have now is freakin awesome. I knew the 3000 was too litlle for my cam, 224/228 112 LSA.
I know I'll be running NA 12's now. You need to do a lot of research before you spend you money, maybe even call some of the sponsors--->
To get some ideas even if you plan on doing the work yourself. They can be a great help

Stock is 1800ish...
I DD a Yank SS3600 in a 5.3 ext cab with a 224/227 cam... It is perfect, now that I'm going with a turbo ill probably step it down some but I can tell you, I've driven this converter everyday for over a year and a half and even towed with it once or twice and I couldn't ask for anything better... If you are wanting anything over a 220 cam, and you are wanting this truck to be a "toy" then get a bigger converter... Bottom line

A stall will make or break a good combo! Ask me how I know!
I had a 3200 ProYank and it was wayyy too tight, even with my little 224/224 cam and 4.56 gears. The 3200 felt like stock just driving in town, so might as well get you a 3400+. You will be able to tell you have a stall in there, but it's not going to be as bad as alot say. The stall going in the new little project will be atleast a 3800. I'm not even worried about driving it in town. I don't care if it is loose. When I go to the track, it will be worth it!
Another thing to remember though; each company's converter will be different from another. Some are tighter/looser than the other one. I know Yank for a fact runs tight, and Fuddle for a fact runs LOOSE. A 3200 Fuddle would be like a 3600 Yank. Do not go to Fuddle by the way!
You just have to contact some companies and just start asking them questions. See if their converters are loose or tight. Good luck, and remember, you are not making us happy, you are making yourself happy! Build it the way YOU want it to perform, not us!
