04 head bolts

Default 04 head bolts

Guys, are the 04 and later head bolts all the same length?

Yes, except for the small ones across the top near the valley cover.

Yes, the 04+ use the "short-style" bolts.

I read in a gm performance parts catalog that the cut off date was maybe Febuary of 04 my tuck is an 04 but built in 03 so I bought the early version with multi lengths. havnt done my cam swap yet though. I think 04's could be either the way it reads. sorry to steal the thread

your pulling heads to do a cam swap?

That's what I had to do for a cam swap...pull the heads.

Pulling the heads for a cam swap is not necessary. Use 2 5/16" wooden dowel rods to hold the lifters up. When you remove the cam retainer plate, there are 2 oil gallery holes that you use for this. Spin the cam while you slide in the dowels to pop the lifters up into the trays, the dowels hold the lifters up & away from the cam lobes.

I'm sorry heads/cam swap. Just wanted to see if anyone had an early 04' that had done head swap?
