03 5.3 Ready for some love

The tranny has been gone through already. Its got a beast sunshell, hardened accumulator piston and pins, .500 boost valve, corvette servo, clutches are all fresh and stacked, has a drilled separator plate thats for HD use, and it has a small TransGo shift kit. Should this be enough to hold the trans? In its stock form now, it will chirp tires hitting 2nd gear on dry pavement, and if its wet, it spins posi at 75 when it hits 3rd gear. I plan on putting a deep aluminum pan and a larger cooler on it. Just haven't had the need for it yet.

It sometimes randomly flares a little bit on the 2-3 shift when the truck is cold. Now it wont flare if i use tow/haul mode because theres a bit more line pressure due to higher rpm before the shift. The 2-3 flare was why I originaly got it rebuilt. It would only do it at a WOT shift from 3-2 or 4-2. Even after the rebuild, when its cold, it would flare like 1 time then shift crisp and firm there after. I talked to the guy who rebuilt it, he said some of the 4l60s are just junk and there's nothing he could do for it. If it burnt up relatively soon, he would tear into it again at no charge.

For your oil eating problem, you could get a lil $10 filter to put into the oil cap helps release pressure when wide open throttle.
I use castrol 10w 30 so I change mine every 2800miles but it used to eat a qt every 2800 miles. With my lil filter it now eats maybe a 1/8th of a qt so it seems to be working.
I think your cheapest route would be turbo kit from kb racing. Get new fuel pump/ injectors can keep stock heads for now they flow pretty decent 6-7 psi on bone stock 5.3L intercooled should get you close to 400rwhp
Get a tune and then later for more power you could put a isky tripple 12 cam in and crank the boost up. cam+10psi maybe around 500rwhp
130,000+ miles is worn down motor perfect for boost
If the 5.3L eventually blows b/c to much boost you can just go get a new one for 4-500 from a junk yard. Then if you want to bore that to an ls1 and put forged internals in.
Just my .02 cents i'm no expert though. Build it in stages

+1 with the above about building it in stages. And if you're a flex fuel, you can throw a KB Boost-a-pump on it, I'm running the stock pump with 75# injectors and it's keeping up fine.

Auto zone or o'rileys
Trying to figure out how to upload the pictures of it I took
It's a lil filter about 2" diameter in a cone shape
Under neath the filter is about a 3/4" diameter rubber hose attached
On the oil cap drill a whole just barely small than 3/4" for a snug fit.
If you drill out to much of the cap you will break/go through a plastic ring..... No worries if you do just drill out the whole ring and MAKE SURE ALL PLASTIC PIECES are cleaned. Don't want plastic in the motor lol

The motor did just turn 140,xxx miles. Sounds like a turbo is the way to go. Now ill have to move into the other section and see what size I should run. Im not the most knowlegable person when it comes to sizes and such. Thanks for all the input!

if your truck is consuming that much oil, I wouldnt put boost to it with out a rebuild, as far as tubro size a quicke search will let you know what most are running on 5.3's. I ran a 70mm with 96.AR with my 4.8 and 5.3. I would go with a 76mm if i was boosting a 5.3 again.
