My stock 5.3 exhaust with the magnaflow (stock manifolds and cats) is very similar decibal wise to my headers no cats stock 6.2 catback just for reference.
Truck sounds good in that vid
I would take a piece of 2.5 and 3. You'll have to do a bit of finagling with it but it should work out.
I don't think 75-100 is necessarily a bad price, but I bet you could find cheaper at maybe a smaller outfit. I get the super homie discount at the muffler shop I've been going to for almost 20 years so my pricing isn't really a good reference. And someone else on here said they paid $30, I think it was jonblarc. Call a couple of different shops. If you can get it done for under $50 it isn't worth messing with yourself in my opinion. $100 each I'd be trying to do it myself too.
On the magnaflow, if I could have swore he said it was a 22" but I don't see that on the magnaflow website. They have a 24" body, which is a overall length of 30" so that is likely the correct one. I just looked through my receipt book and the receipt for the 5.3 muffler is missing, it had the part number on it.
Been looking at the magnaflow 12909 for the 6.2 exhaust

That's something my estimators and I are always talking about. Don't just estimate the time it takes to mount the speaker. Think about the time to get the ladder in place, remove the ceiling tile, cut the hole, pull the cable, mount the support structure, install the speaker, etc. That's where you lose money is not taking into account all of the steps it actually takes to get a job done.

I just had the stock muffler and butterfly valve cut out and the Magnaflow 12909 put in it's place and couple months ago. I have a 2014 6.2.
I cost 75.00 because I already bought the muffler off someone on here.

Oh and my pipe was 3.5 on both sides of the muffler. I doesn't reduce down to 3" until after the rear resonator. Which I ended up cutting off and just leaving it dumped over the axle.

if you do decide to ditch the muffler, leave the resonator or add a Vibrant. the y pipe and single exhaust pipe will have drone just about any way you think to avoid it.. the helmholtz is a good way to eliminate it also. there’s a good thread on here on how to calculate the pipe size. i just converted my truck with long tubes to a dual 3” x pipe setup and it’s mind blowing how much the new setup eliminates drone and isn’t loud at all. but once you go WOT it’s LOUD. check my new thread on exhaust thread section and you’ll see it. Speed Engineering is the brand I used. can’t beat it for $475.

CJ's muffler in Arlington did my flapper for $25 lol. Almost free. They are a 5 star shop so I guess they were bored.

Here it is on my last 6.2. I know it's a different type of 6.2 but I don't have headers or catless Y pipe on the current truck. The 12909 on my L86 with stock exhaust manifolds and cats is to quiet with the rear resonator on. It is much deeper than the stock muffler but not that much louder. When I picked it up from the muffler shop I literally remote started it said "that's not loud enough". Drove home and got the sawzall out and cut the resonator off. Then it sounded much better, and I'm not a teenager trying to wake the dead. I have a wife and a 4 year old and I can say there is no drone in my current L86 with stock exhaust manifolds and cats. I think it will be perfect once I get headers on here. If I wasn't going to get headers I would swap to a louder muffler.
The video is my 2008 6.2 with headers no cats and 12909 and the rear resonator off. I had it this way for several years and would even pull my 24 foot wakeboat an hour to the lake with my little man snoozing like a baby the whole way. No drone and never once had the wife or him complain about it being to loud.
