Default POS A/C components

1. Condenser leak at 38k miles
2. Condenser leak at 100k miles
3. And now, my compressor just took a **** at 135k

Do they not bother testing the systems anywhere other than ******* Detroit??

Does anyone make a rebuild kit for these pieces of **** yet?

It's a mass produced part, sometimes things just fail. You likely drive more than the avg person a year and in a climate that tests these systems to the limits for most of the time. Getting 135k from a compressor isn't too bad if you ask me.

You sound like a service writer at a dealership. Most of my miles are highway, which puts the majority of its time at less than 2000 RPM. 2 condensers and a compressor in 3 years is not a "sometimes parts just fail" scenario. Plenty of mass-produced parts are of high quality with the tech available today. They just figured if they made a perfect truck they wouldn't make any money.

Not a service writer, just someone that's been a technician.

Failures suck and I'm sure it would annoy me too if that happened to my truck but it is what it is. Run time is run time no matter the distance or rpm, so it has been used a good amount either way.

I have a 2000 with a total of about 450k miles on the truck. The AC quit last year. Will get it repaired soon. It is the luck of the draw.

Not yet. The rest of the truck has been solid so far. However, I won't be buying any more GM cars until they get their heads out of their asses. My wife's Malibu was the worst piece of **** I've ever owned, so we got her an Explorer.

my 2014 sierra's ac broke 3 times before 50kmiles, last time was the evaporator requiring a full dash removal. all out of warranty.

when the coil went out i filled it up and traded it in for a 2017. every ac component under the hood appears to be different compared to my 2014. I'm hoping all the ac issues have been sorted on this new truck.

Learned my lesson thats for sure...NEVER buy first year of a new generation! and this time i bought a extended warranty, bumper to bumper 100k miles
