Default Octane regarding AFR?

I leaned out my PE air fuel ratio recently. During the tuning and currently i have 94 octane in the tank. I played around with timing advance but the ecu ended up just pulling the timing out as knock which was odd. All I added was 2 degrees up top. So ive gone back to the stock timing tables for now. I ran 94 to avoid knock retard btw.

Anyhow.... i want to go back to 87 octane for now. Should I richen up the afr for the PE table for the 87 octane? Does it matter?

Is knock retard a sign that the engine isnt liking the lean afr whilst using 87?

11.8 at low rpm. 11.9 mid rpm. 12 from 5000 rpm and up. So not too lean.

If your NA then that's rich. What's the setup and how much total timing are you seeing when it's pulling KR?

Considering the stock calibration is like 11.0 to 11.7, it's not so bad lol.

I don't think he has a wideband in the exhaust, so he is keeping it safe.

I run 89 octane with stock timing at 12.25 AFR without knock. I've also adjust the over sensative burst knock and knock tables aswell.

I am still running stock KR sensitivity on my setup, you dont need to back them off (Older PCMs were a different story) If you dont have a wideband then how do you know the AFR? Are you saying that is what you are commanding?

You shouldn't need to adjust the PE for regular gas, but you do need to spend some time working on the timing tables.

How are your fuel trims now? if you post up a log, and your tune more people can help. I understand if you don't want to post your tune. Just harder to help if we cant see whats going on.

Not the case, factory PE settings are crazy rich and factory enablers are so high that it rarely even kicks in.

I wasn't clear in what I typed. For that, I apologize. I intended that to be in reference to adjusting PE when swapping between different pump gas octanes. PE needs to be adjusted in general, but not when swapping from premium to regular gas.

You're spot on that the stock PE is way rich and rarely kicks in.
