L96 or lq9

So I have a 2015 Silverado 2500 with the l96 and it blew up on me and I’m looking for a new motor I can get my hands on a l96 or a lq9 the l96 is only $300 more. Wondering what peoples thoughts are on this and if I do go with the lq9 what do I need to do to make it work in my truck, thank you

Those Gen III vs Gen IV blocks. Main difference is the 24x vs 58X reluctor wheel and the 1X vs 4X reluctor on the cam. The crank reluctor can be swapped, but bottom end needs to come apart.
The older block has the cam sensor on top, rear of the engine near the oil pressure sender. The newer block has the cam on the timing chain cover. Not sure how you could run a 4X cam on the older block? 🤔🤷
L96, in addition, has vvt, but older engine does not...
So, I would say keep looking for a Gen IV block. An LY6 would also work. It's the same as the L96, minus flex fuel capable. There was also a LPG version on these engines.
