Intake for 2015 2500 HD manual fan 6.0?
#12
I 1/2 wonder if I just put a regular one on if the fan would actually hit it or if it's just close. Anyone ever try? Would trimming it back a little at the TB to get it a little closer possibly resolve the issue?

Get yourself some 4" ABS/ PVC pipe and do a mock up. Cost you 20 bucks or so, get the measurements of the intake of your choice and bend to match. You will need to apply a little heat to get the pipe to bend. Remember it doesn't have to look good, just match the bends and such. If it clears the fan your golden.

I just checked on summit....2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD Airaid SynthaMax MXP Series Cold Air Intake Systems 202-280 - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing
That listing is for all models WT to High country.
I would assume that the LTZ and High country have electric fans....but the WT surly doesn't.
Worst case, give Airraid a call and ask.
Hope this helps

If it gains some throttle response that would be good. This is the first LS equipped truck I have had, and the drive by wire in comparison to the other ls stuff I've had is not there. Better response would be nice.
And all those baffles and sound deadening chambers only hurt flow there's no way in hell that a strait tube can't be better than having all that nonsense hooked up to the main feed.
If it picks up 5 hp and gives a little better response it's worth it. I'm due to change the filter anyway.
I bet the 3.5 inch 45 degree bend that I'm putting on right where the stock muffler starts and will dump the exhaust out in front of the passenger's rear wheel, will certainly improve the power a bit. And dump 40 plus lbs off the truck, and certainly improve the tone a little.

you will actually more then likely lose some low end by removing the muffler.
You may gain power on the top end...but down low you will lose...and open exhaust on these trucks is pretty annoying on the highway IMO.
Sound will be there.
I seen an independent study a while back with which Intake was best, with dyno graphs. long story short, Airraid made a tube that went from the throttle body to the stock air box, and that coupled with a K&N drop in filter gave the best gains and was also cheapest.
or save that money and spend it in the right place....if you want power and throttle response, get a tune. It will be the best money you will ever spend. you will actually pick up a quite a bit of power, better fuel economy and just an overall better driving experience... plus your throttle will be crisp.
If you want loud, get an electric exhaust dump like this one...
Kylin Store 3" Electric Stainless Exhaust Cutout Cut Out Dump Valve / switch without Remote control-in Pipes from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group That way you can go quiet if it gets annoying. If you look around you an find some that open partially to allow you to tune the sound.
That's just my 2 cents...do what you want...its your truck

Love to get it tuned but honestly in the northeast there's crap for tuners.... And I just read a thread about a guy putting an lsa setup on but couldn't get the thing tuned right, something about the 2015 being funny/different, etc. Still trying to confirm that, but regardless, around these parts the LS tuners I know of, will not be touching the truck.
