What's the intake valve look like? These are mine at 130k with no catch can. I'm not even worried about it.

**** yours look even better than mine. I've long suspected the catch can thing was more gimmick than necessary on these engines and these pictures just further solidify my opinion.

But that's not what this thread is for. This thread is for you to post your trial and tribulations so I can learn what and what not to do on mine haha

Hey I will be posting some pictures over on Gm-truck.com for sure

I swear they think it gives you 20hp and 5mpg on that forum. I’m all about modding if it really does something. And if I go boosted of course I’ll run one. But not a 350.00 dollar one.

One day I'll get drunk and bored and build one out of steel wool and a beer can because that's all that it is.

Heads are at the machine shop. Three angle valve job, resurfacing and going to do alittle bowl work.

All you need to do is clean it. The way I posted is cleaning it. But if you can get it perfectly clean without sanding that works. I usually find something by feeling with my finger so I just go ahead and do a light sanding.

I personally wouldn't do a whole lot of work just as little as possible to get it clean.

You'll gain a bit there too.

Your valves look fine and I agree with bgbldodge on the catch can.

I posted pics of my valves at 117k and they looked like yours. I'm not gonna run a catch can after seeing that.

Oven cleaner, yellow can.

Spray it, let it sit, gently remove the residue with a razor blade.

spray it down with brake cleaner.

Just found out from TSP the head gasket for my 6.2 is on national back order.

I'm going to call back today and see if I could get the rest of the stuff shipped to me so I can go ahead and swap the cam and maybe take the valve springs and valve seal and retainers to the machine shop. The machine shop said they would put them in if I brought it to them.
