Alright kids, I finally made a decision and will likely buy a Sierra tomorrow.

I'm going with the Iridium Metallic. The problem is that the truck doesn't have running boards and I'll need those. Considering getting the factory chrome ones, to match the chrome 20" wheels but I'm sure they get a premium for those.

Should I go aftermarket instead?


What about extended warranty? Best to order at the dealership at purchase or wait? Sometimes it is cheaper to buy it after the fact.

Almost bought a Raptor but I talked myself off the edge of that one.

 

It's cheaper to but the extended warranty at the time of purchase. You can get a real good one that's just as good as the factory one.

 

Check your local craigslist or maybe ebay for factory running boards. Plenty of people buy trucks with them and take then off.

 

I took a look, nada. Ebay just had a bunch of aftermarket junk.

 

AAMP makes a really nice set of power fold running boards they are about 1500
Wouldn't waste your money on a extended warranty all of the expensive stuff is 5 years 100K powertrain and 8 years 80K all emissions stuff

 

I did see an ad for those. $1500 is a little hard to swallow for running boards though!

 

Question on the Extended Warranty....I know the opinions tend to vary... a lot....

Worth it? I'm not sure what to expect price wise, but I don't put many miles on my vehicles now. But I know a simple electronic failure, or NAV failure would pay for the warranty.

If you get an extended warranty, get the best one they offer and read the fine print very well. GM offers an extended warranty that is almost as good as the factory one.

I have seen lots of people get shafted on extended warranties. They are under the impression it's bumper to bumper or 100% powetrain. They bring it in for a water pump and get declined because the fine print states "only what oil touches". I hate aftermarket warranties, but I'm on the other side of the fence.

 

I agree....I will only purchase a warranty that is provided by GM.

Usually the dealerships try to sell you the aftermarket, then you have to ask for the GM one...we will see.

The name of the GM aftermarket warranty is GMPP. Not all dealerships offer it.
