custom exhaust with pics. Straight piped
#21
Hmmmm.... Just got my 2014 6.2 a couple days ago. I was thinking of just straight piping the muffler; maybe a dual tip and leave the rest, but was concerned about drone. If this isn't an issue, I think I might be in...

On my 5.3 with the stock system minus muffler ( 3 cats, 1 resonator ) the part throttle "drone" wasn't to bad, V4 mode was kinda annoying especially if you came up to a small rise and it loaded up a little.

I deleted my muffler and left everything else stock. A few days later and bolted the little drone valve open. There is no noise or drone inside the cab. Even the wife likes it.

The valve was on the muffler on my truck and went with it when I ha the muffler cut out. It droned like hell that way. If you liked it, good for you that's great, just sharing what I experienced and how I felt about it.
I spent the money for a nice cat back because it sounded like crap with the setup I had.

The valve is right past the muffler. There is enough room to cut the muffler off and leave the valve if you want to. It's just my preference that I did. I noticed no difference in bolted open or left stock.
