Default bought a new 2015 2500 hd 6.0, couple question

Not sure if anyone on here would even know but...

I bought a new 2015 silverado 2500hd. 6.0, 6 speed auto, went this rout becuase it's known, proven, will pull by 9000 lb trailer for the 10-12 trips to the track we do a year, and the new crew cab had gobs of back seat space for the family.

On to my questions:

truck has 4.10 gears, and the wiring in place for a 4 or 7 prong trailer, meaning I am good there I think. But for some stupid reason they didn't put the hitch, or the factory brake controller in this truck. Can the factory in dash brake controller be bought/installed thru the dealer?

Hitch, does a hitch for a 2014 fit on a 2015 2500? Noone seems to have the 2015 listed as of yet, I want to get the strongest hitch I can get with a 2x2 receiver, since I run a load leveling hitch, I don't want to have any issues/concerns with the hitch.... kind of a high stress point.

Also, air box/exhaust, will the 2014 stuff fit on a 2015? I'm getting about 13.4 mpg average right now with 600 miles on the truck, I'm sure it will get a little better, but I'd like to try to get this to the 15 mpg range back and forth. Going to put synthetic oil in it at 1000 miles, regardless of the oil change light. I figure if this is anything like all ls stuff I have worked on over the years, the exhaust and air box should be 20 hp and 1 to 2 mpg, will add a pcv catch can as well to keep the oil out of the intake tract... keep that clean that always helps as well.

Open to hear what people have to say.

Prolly did you a favor on not putting the hitch on there...reason being...typically, even on hd trucks, the factory receivers are not rated as strong as the truck can tow, nor are they rated for what you are prolly gonna tow. I had a super duty power stroke f-350 and the hitch was rated lower than the rig I was hauling, even though the rig weighed less than the trucks cap...DOT pointed that out...

Dunno about the factory brake controller issue. Our local dealer has two '15 hd's, but they don't have either as well.

The HD frame/chassis did not change from 2014 to 2015, so I'm sure the hitch will be compatible. Also the trailer brake can probably be added, but a dealer will have to reflash your body control module to utilize it.

I'm cool with the dealer doing the reflash or whatever needs to be done to get the in dash controller to work.

I'm looking for the strongest 2x2 receiver hitch I can find. I'm sure a min of class 4, if I can find a class 5 with a 2x2 that would be good.

Anyone have any preferences on the hitch? Last 3 trucks all had factory ones on and I just went with it... Now with the ability to choose I wanna do a good solid one.

If the frames didn't change, did the engine bay/exhaust change? That crazy huge muffler on the truck needs to go lol!

6.0 only come in the 2500 and 3500 gas models for 2014 and 2015. Basically they had like a bajillion left over motors and decided to keep using them up. Likely the motors are a few years old but a new motor is a new motor.

2016 might have something different.

It does still have the 6.0 yes. I'm not sure what the configuration is on it, square vs cathedral port heads, etc. I know it has the variable cam in it, other then that it's a standard 6.0 as far as I know. I don't know what the power rating difference is for a 6.0 vs the 6.2, but I'm 100% sure that with a couple small mods it will be right there. Airbox and the exhaust change, if i get froggy an intake swap, possibly a set of 1.85 rockers and just put a better set of springs and pushrods in it, little stuff like that would surly get the power up a good 30 to 40 hp I'd be willing to bet all together, with no change in it's manners. Hell don't even have to tune it I'd guess.

I'm very happy with the power the truck has. In comparison to the 6.7 cummins ram I had (which was falling apart at 80K, badly!) I think this seems to pull just as good, just different. I'm sure the mpg while towing will be way worse, but as far as around town goes, the 6.7 with all the emmissions crap was getting 14.5 to 15, I have seen as good as 18.7 on the highway with this, and around town I'm getting between 12.5 to 15, it is very sensitive as to how it's driven. If you take it easy, 15 plus with my commute which is city/back state roads at 45 to 50 mph is possible. I'd like to see that get into the 16.5 range though.

I'd like to improve it a little more, not sure if the airbox for a 2014 is the same as a 2015. This truck has teh full 4 door crew cab and 6.5 foot bed, little longer then my quad cab dodge was, but I think it's going to tow better becuase of that, and the interior room is killer. Exhaust length will have to be for this configuration which I think is new for 2015.

One thing for sure the interior is QUIET. Very quiet. almost no road noise in the cabin at all. Windows open it's still quiet. I need to rip that massive factory muffler off just so I can hear it run.
