bump.
Ive been thinking about this too. Do i really need the 6.2? ( cause ill be turboing whatever engine it is) and the pros/cons or each the 6 speed and 8 speed. Ill be setting a goal of 600 wheel.

For 2016 the 5.3 is 6 and the 6.2 is 8. So need to decide which motor you want and trans will be decided. Think for 2017 both get the 8.
For me I hate the 8-speed, even tuned. Once I change the gears to 4.10 it should be much better for my driving style.

6.2 no question, it is factory 83 ftlbs more than the 5.3 @ 4100rpm
6.2 is 1mpg less city and 2 mpg less hwy.
according to chevy web site.

I can tell you the 2017 5.3 with the 8 speed shift all over the place going up a 5-7% grade. I didn't test drive the 5.3 with the 6 speed, because my wife didn't like the 2017.
I (and wife) didn't drive a 6.2 due to pricing... And needing decent fuel mileage
