he's referring to the camshaft controlling the high pressure pump on the new engines. doesn't apply to your setup though as it's not an HPDI engine.

I'd like to congratulate you on not getting a diesel like so many others would have done.

All the parts and pieces you are buying for the 6.0L probably don't add up to what a comparable truck in diesel would have cost.

Looking forward to hearing about the end results.

Didn't want a diesel again because of all the emission crap now days. And I going to be about $5,000 over what I could have gotten a diesel for after this round of upgrades, which I don't find horrible to still be in a gasser. Plus, if I'm to hurt the motor, 6.0L's are a dime a dozen. Cheap to replace compared to a diesel.

Now once I do the bottom end... I'm going to be well over diesel price. But, its also fun surprising the diesel guys with a gasser out on the highway.

Yea... Who would ever want a diesel... With their insane power capabilities. I mean why would anyone want a 600+ foot pound stock diesel when you can spend untold amounts of cash to make your gasser make less torque and lose all semblance of reliability and efficiency in the process...

Cause 20% of people who "need" a diesel. Actually need a diesel. Most people only need a 6.0 with a good gear set.

And diesel trucks aren't exactly fuel efficient. Our f350 work truck gets worse millage than my half ton.

Not to mention the extra cost of maintenance, exhaust fluid, more expensive fuel, and the extra $10k for the diesel model.

That 600+ft lbs you speak of doesn't make a lick of difference unless you're pulling a heavy trailer. They're certainly no quicker than a gas truck. And actually slower in most cases.

Most people I see with diesels have 38s or larger and huge lifts on them. Blow black smoke at every light and do 0-60 in about a week. And have made them totally useless for the purpose they were designed.

But whatever floats your boat I guess. I think diesels are for work...not getting groceries.

Not sure if this is directed towards me or not. I actually loved my diesel. As stated before, the emissions is what gets me. Living in a small town that doesn't care, I'd take a diesel any day. Being back in the Houston area now, they seem to pay a bit more attention.

Completely understand I'll spend more in the end, maybe make the horsepower, and never have a chance at hitting half the amount of torque. I'm ok with that though.

Upside, if/when I blow this 6.0 up, a replacement will only hit me for maybe 1/3rd what the diesel would.

I know a tech at a bus company here. They buy the small van based busses (E450- savana etc) with gas pots for that exact reason. They can replace the gas engine 3 times for the cost of 1 diesel, and that's the life of the bus by law. But the maintenance cost for a gas bus vs a diesel is about half. Saving the company a few grand a bus.

They are cracking down on "rollin coal" here...and it has to be professionally deemed suitable for the road prior to it being relicensed. That ranges from a g-note for a guy with a tunner to lots more depending on mods.

But again. To each they're own.

Proud of there work? Guess that depends who your comparing to. We'll just say to each his own. I've no doubt I'll be happy with what I've paid for.

9 more days until I drop it off. Getting more excited by the day!
