Well, When i get COMPed the cam, i'm going to be getting a 3 bolt. I got a sprocket for 15 bucks from GM direct, ARP cam bolts for 7 bucks from summit. The only thing I don't know for sure is if I will need a different cam sensor and a different timing cover, or if mine will work. I have the ability with my neighbors EFI live to tell the computer to stop using VVT.

You need LS2 timing cover with 4x cam sensor and LS2 4X cam gear.

This is the part number I used for the cam gear from gmpartsdirect:
12586481

Is this correct? it doesn't say if it's ls2 24x.

Anyone have a pn for the timing cover with cam sensor?

4x cam gear 12586481
LS2 timing cover w 4X sensor 12633906
timing gear bolts 12556127 need 3 quantity of this PN
LS2 lifter trays for non DOD lifters 12595365
LS7 lifters 12499225
LS2 timing chain dampener 12588670
And OE head bolts and gaskets, timing cover gasket water pump gaskets and crank bolt as per gm catalog based off of VIN for your truck

You also have to pull the heads and replace 8 lifters with NON DOD lifters but while you are there you may as well put 16 new lifters in it GM performance parts sells a complete set very reasonable. Then replace the valley cover with a NON DOD style cover like one used on a 08-13 LY6 6.0 to eliminate the DOD oiling manifolds that are no longer in use.

Awesome info!!

Here's what I have ordered already:
ARP Headbolts (already installed)
Felpro Head gasket
ARP Harmonic Balancer Bolt
ARP Cam retainer plate bolts
ARP timing gear bolts
16 LS7 lifters
4 lifter trays
LS2 chain dampener
3 bolt cam gear
Lifter valley cover p/n 12598832 This is a part number from a sticky on this site for the 4.8L valley cover. Will this work?
I have emailed gmpartsdirect to add the LS2 timing cover with sensor to my order.

It's the same part from what my memory serves so yes 4.8 valley cover will work.

Forgot to mention that I also have stiff valve springs, hardened pushrods, and rocker arm bearing kit.

01WS6/tamu.... You're awesome!! Thank you for the information. You should make a sticky for VVT delete kit similar to the DoD delete kit.

websites sell a kit for about $110 bucks, but you can get the timing gear for $15 from gmdirect, ARP gear bolts for $7 from summit, and timing cover with sensor for $70 from gmdirect. It saves you a few bucks.

The above is all parts to delete VVT and DOD for a 5.3 or DOD 6.0,6.2
For a L9H non DOD 6.2 you need cover/cam gear/bolts to ax VVT
