Default Where is the low end grunt?

How can I remedy my truck lugging so bad in low RPMs?

Let me clarify... This truck will never see a track or race, just a daily driver. With that being said, it really annoys me when I pull out of somewhere and bury the throttle at a roll and lugs like having a 6k trailer behind it. I know my tires/wheels are not helping the situation. If I roll into it before it gets out first gear it is all fine, but if it is in 2nd/3rd it just lugs all the way up to 4k rpm then pulls on out... every now and then it will lug for what seems 2-3 seconds then decide to downshift, which is pathetic and embarrassing imo.

lower gears would just mask the problem by keeping it out of the low rpms, right? Not really the route I want to take.

What are the goodies that target that low end grunt? Is that all in tuning or are there other things to look into before tuning?

{I come from the diesel world so this problem is new to me. The power is there but I get tired of waiting on it to kick in.}

thanks guys.

That's your friendly GM powertrain abuse "nanny". Stock GM gassers pickup tunes SUCK in this regard. Wish I had a cable-operated throttle!

You need a transmission AND engine tune . . .

I'll second Lloyd's suggestion. I got an Autocal tune (engine and trans) from Black Bear Performance and it made all the difference in the world. They're a sponsor here, click the link on the right.

Get a tune. The 6l80e trans love to get to 6th gear as quick as possible which sucks for any get up and go. It's fine when you are on the hwy but if you are rolling onto the throttle it's not going to pick up very quick.

Will be getting my Black Bear in person tune in 2 weeks! These trucks do really wake up after a good tune!

Mine is tuned, runs great on 33s. Gears are great too; these engines prefer rpm. If you need low-rev grunt, a diesel, big block, or blower are your only options.
