Default Wheels/Tires weight/size/etc.

For the sake of conversation, what do you think has the largest effect on performance when it comes to a wheel/tire setup? Overall weight, circumference, tread pattern, etc? I've been debating on switching to a 20in 275/55/20 setup from my current 285/70/17. From the looks of it, the 20 inch setup will add about 10lbs per corner(if online weight charts are correct), but will be about an inch shorter and half an inch narrower. This got me wondering, would the smaller diameter and narrower tread be enough to offset the weight increase? In the end it won't really matter to me, if I worried about mpg I wouldn't have gotten this gas hog in the first place Just a boring day at work thought.

All of the above. I think you'll be ok. After a lot of researching I decided on 18's for what I considered the best combination of looks, specs, weight, performance and price. 20's do look good though so if that last tenth doesn't matter that much I think 20's.
