Default Light weight wheels? With good tires?

I am able to get some ok good deals on wheels and tires at work. Also now that i am looking at going to the strip more and adding mods I am looking to get a set of wheels and tires for the track. Who makes a good light weight wheel that can be used street and strip? Any input would be appreciated. Also what is a good tire for good street and strip use? I have been looking into MT radials, or maybe Nitto 555R, again any input would be appreciated.

EDIT: I am looking at running a 285/45(dont know how much sidewall to go with?)/16.

Thanks in advance.

Dustin

do you want a 26" tire? it will sure give you some gear but your speedo will be 10mph off and thats really small.
i would go 285~60 or so thats a 29" tire with a good amount of sidewall(your stock ones are 30.5)
and im not sure about rims there arent alot of 16" aftermarket for our trucks

I am looking for a nice track setup. If i had to go with a 17 or 18 so be it. I just have no idea what to go with, but i know launching the 5 speed and maybe 6 speed later is going to be an issue.

You can probably find some 16"s but i would get some more sidewall, my had tires that tall.
I think you might be able to find more tires for 17" rims and still have a good size tire

i would go with nothing smaller then a 55 or 60, and the Nitto 555 are awsome but thay have lot of hop on take off. my old boss has a 2005 silverado with a supercharger, do not know what kind or no specs, that is what he said about the 555. the BFG one are good also he never complained about the BFG tires.

if your just talking back tires go for 15"s there are more drag tires for that rim than any other and you can find 15"s real easy
