Circle d and yank are both great, the yank tt3000 is super tight, I don't like it but it is better than the stock converter. Circle D's 3000 is a smaller diameter converter than the tt3000 which would be a good thing.

Im adding a set of heads to the equation, so a little more open for a bigger stall.

after discussing your plans and setup with James im gunna have to go with him on this one. I honestly wouldnt go much bigger than a 3000-3400 converter if you want to keep street manners. all this talk of 4000-4400 converters is just crazy for a daily driven 6000 pound turd that will see 95% street and hwy miles (no offence to your truck, mine is heavy too). Personally I have a TCS 3000 stall in my truck and i have nothing but good things to say about it. It launches hard from a stand still and is awesome when going from a 30-45 roll. As far as cam selection goes i think i have a company that can really open your eyes to the whole heads/cam swap with VVT. Tell James to give you my number and give me a call so we can talk about it. I think youll be quite impressed with the gains that can be had!

i thought his truck was a 5.3 if so there is no VVT....the only way i see that happening is if he swaps the harness to a 6.2 harness which i think thats stupid but hey ive done some pretty stupid things

if you want a DD that will still tow and not be a turd go 3200 if you want a bigger cam/motor later on go 3400. i say 3200 after going from a 3200 to a 3600 I personally rather the 3200. it drove just fine behind my CC on 3:42s and 4:10s. i drive a stock converter now on a 112+2 and the brakes SUCK in traffic.

Care to explain why you think the TT3000 "doesn't make a difference"? I'd say a converter that gets the truck in my sig to cut a 1.7x 60' with a bit of spinning is doing pretty well...

Is it the best converter for performance? No, definitely not, but for someone looking for a tight 3000 stall (which the OP sounds like he wants), it works great.

EDIT: And in response to your other post, both Yank and Circle D's entry level 3000 stall converters are 278mm.

He came buy the house yesterday and he drove my truck for about 3mi with 4 stop signs in the mix. Its not s good representation due to the lack of heavy traffic, but he said that he would go with a 3k converter from someone. All of the converter manufactures mentioned are good. He's gonna have to deside what manufacture to go with. As far as the heads, I'm not to familar with what truck/year has vvt/dod but I think he's got this worked out.......for the most part. This build is alraedy bumping up a few steps from it's original plan of action. I don't know............Travis just put 3600+,224/228,.581/.588,110 seperation, aftermarket intake, e-water pump, Edelbrock cnc'd heads from WCCH, and all of the supporting mods. You know what I have......and go all out!!!!I've got my build sheet around here somewhere.

Just a thought......hahahahahaha

Im not speaking of just 60' times, Im also looking at shift extensions. For my taste, I dont like more than a 1200 rpm shift extension. If he is roll racing all the time, then a tighter converter may be better for him. If the op wants a tight converter then cool if all he is doing is roll racing, but for roll racing its not going to matter what it flashes to more so than what his shift extensions are. If he is going heads too (where it will make its power up top), why would you want to fall out of that power band.

And for the gentleman who posted about 4000 converters being absurd for a heavy truck...dave at yank recommended me a ss4000 for my cc.

That being said, everyone has a different taste and different idea of what a streetable converter is. I like a looser converter, I don't tow, and am used to what a loose converter feels like. It doesn't bother me at all. That is not going to be for everyone.
