under drive pulleys and 16"* t-stat worth it?
So my mods are air raid MIT, modded air box and catback with xr-1 muffler and Blackbear tune. Looking for some more mods without breaking the bank. Would under drive pulleys and a 160 stat be worth it or a complete waste? It's a '11 with 5.3.
I did search and seemed to be 50/50 on them and all older posts. Looking for better updated results.

Whats the gains of a Underdrive pulley?
5hp? for ~$300? Quite expensive HP, eh?
160*Tstat doesnt help hardly at all, maybe 2hp?
Save up for a cam or stall, something thats goin to help quite a bit.

I've heard a good stall for the new 6spds are $1000+ and that's just out of the question especially still under warranty. Same with gears and a cam. I've seen pulleys for $200 which isn't too bad IMO and a stat to go with it since I'm already there.

Warranty is my same concern! Without it, CAM, stall and FI would all be on the way to my house right now! what about a 160 stat just to run cooler in summer and for towing?

Well ya that's why I don't wanna test my warranty guy on a $35,000 truck. My intake and exhaust passed the test already so still trying to keep it under the radar. And for $250 or so if I can pick up 10rwhp it be worth it to me. I've seen dyno graphs people posted up with those gains but looking for people who have actually done these mods and if they had any issues or what brands to buy or stay away from.

what intake and exhaust passed the warranty test for you? Once concern with the UDP for me is that it essentially makes all other components on the belt work harder, so in the long run i would think it would probably lead to quicker failure of those parts. Not sure if the cost would be worth that, but then again maybe its not much of a risk?

I did the trick flow UD and it frees up the parasitic lose a little. And I have the 160 stat and I was told its more of a cover ur *** thing that if u run a little high compression , or play with fuel trims, or play with timing the low temp stat will help to protect u from early detonation. Now that what I've been told and read about..... How much true to it IDK but for $30 or less for the stat it doesn't hurt ad I wouldn't call it a power adder. As for the under drive pulley it can be a real pain in the *** to do if the stock harmonic doesn't want to come off but considering we will pay 250-300 for intakes to get the same gain what the difference to pay that to get the same gain for UD pulley. It's to which his own, I did it to squeeze everything I could out of the engine. But as others listed if u Lose ur warranty as a result the 10 hp gain DOES NOT seem worth it.
