08+ 3/4 and 1 ton vans have the 4l80e (and 4l85e) and the T42 trans controller. I used a stock tune from an EXPRESS VAN. There is a write up that gives you all you need to do with a GMT900. The stock van tune needed tweeking. It worked but shifted a little early from 1-2 and 3-4.

My stock 4l60e lasted about 8,000 miles after the supercharger install. I am likely 400 HP or less at the wheels (no cam or headers yet). I race every weekend and tow.
Where is the write up?

Well I ended up having a local transmission shop beef up the 60e, its now a 65e.
Hopefully I have no problems. I not gonna be beating on it like some of you all, maybe see a few passes a couple of times a year at the track.

Can you feel a difference in the shifting?

i personally think you made a good choice pending on who built it ?

Heres my factors

"Which trans for 500rwhp"

You need to figure in these factors:

-Horsepower = 480+ on a 100 shot tapping/tipping 600
-Torque = 440+ on a n100 shot tapping/tipping 500
-Weight = 4016
-Converter = 4400
-Gears = 4.88
-Wheel/Tires 29x10.5x15

i personally think if my truck weighed in at 5500-6000 + or in access of 750 rwhp, i would have gone 80E but for what i have now the 4l60e is doing its job.

i been running a 4l60e built by frank at perfomabuilt for over 3 years now without any issues. the key? keep the damn thing cool, heat will kill a trans quicker than anything, this trans has seen nothing but abuse, with 6- 12 passes on any given saturday. damn near every saturday of the year.
