No body is bashing him. Just a simple question as to if he was locking the converter.. I have heard very very few issues with clutches burning up in these yanks, unless they are locking them.. DEZERT was just stating facts from his exp with them... None the less these 6.2's are not pigs..

i watched a PI Vig kill a new Camaro SS with a blower on it. Guy went back to Stock converter and it picked up 5mph.. converter felt fine driving around but lost something under hard launch, if you weren't at the track and compared times or raced a vehicle you used to beat regularly and lost, we would've never noticed it.

the way the pwm is setup vs a 4l is different. the 6l verters never 100% lock up. without more tables from hpt or efi live, they will keep eating converters, or when the trans builders setup converters differently to handle it. it will continue.

Damn nice times coming from these 6.2s guess when I rebuild my 2010 I'm going to need to go with something much larger to keep them at bay.

I didn't think the converter clutch was even used unless you lock it up. At least not on anything I've dealt with. If not locked, then it's doing nothing, or so I thought.

So how could it have burned up?

High stall then locking up on the hwy in 6th gear.

Oh, I thought you were saying that you smoked the CC at the track. Even if the CC was smoked, it shouldn't have any affect on how the converter acts at WOT.

How much power are you putting thru the converter in 6th gear, on the highway, with the CC locked? Most tuners won't allow the CC to stay locked after 50% throttle, give or take.....

Yea the WOT didnt change on the Yank. Just when I was on the hwy it would lock and unlock every 10 seconds. Yea the converter would unlock as soon as I gave the truck decent throttle.
