Default Tires

Was on vacation in Holland Michigan and some one stabbed my 2 rear tires on my 08 CC Z-71. One worse than the other. Idiots looked like they used a box knife, didn't flatten them. One was loosing air and the other just has a gash.

I called the cops and my insurance. Insurance told me to get tires where ever I wanted, and they would foot the bill. ( with deductable ) Cops said they had no other complaints at all... EH what ever.

I searched all afternoon saturday for a pair of tires. NO one offered a 265-65-18 tire in Holland Michigan. So I put the spare on the worst one, and crossed my fingers that the lesser of the 2 cuts would last 250 miles home. I made it home OK.

So know that I am home, I started looking on line at tires. There is a good selection of 265-70-18's but not to much on the 265-65's. It really pisses me off too, cause I only have 5500 miles on the truck. SO I am leaning towards just getting 4 tires. I pay for 2 and the insurance pays for 2.

I am looking at the Cooper Discover ATR's. 265-70-18's. They are 1" taller than the Bridgstones I am taking off. Am I really going to see any problems with MPG's? Cause the truck got 19mpg stock tune with just a soft cover, running 70 all the way to and from Michigan.

I know I'll have to have the computer changed for tire hieght, but is it really going to effect it that much?

I am probably worrying to much, but feel I need to ask....

The other tire option is to get the insurance to pay for 2 bridgstones and sell my 18's and buy my brother's 20" Suburban take offs from an 08. But the 18" 08 wheels don't seem to be bringing real good coin.

Why do people have to be idiots and stab tires. I hope the idiot who did it is hit with carma.

Just get four and put the two good ones on ebay and get some of your money back. I had this happen a while back, only one tire though. They had maybe 200 miles on the tires, looks like a box cutter was used. The slice was almost all the way thru on the sidewall. Pissed me off.
