Question Steering Issues on GMT 900's??

Anyone out there experiencing anything strange with their steering?
I just replaced the power steering rack on my truck with a brand new one and it still has the same problem:
Whenever I turn the steering wheel about 90 degrees to the right it starts making a strange sound like fluid bypassing in the power steering system, and you can feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel. Basically, it sounds and feels like when you turn the wheel all the way over to full lock and hold it against the stop, but it only occurs when I turn the wheel to the right and at about the 9 o'clock position. I was convinced it was a bad spot in the steering rack but the new one does the exact same thing! WTF??
I've checked for the obvious like fluid level and looked for leaks, interference with the headers/chassis etc. but the culprit still eludes me.
Anyone out there have an idea as to what this might be? This one has me really stumped

I may have to change the pump to see if it goes away.
Already have invested in a new steering box, so what the hell, in for a penny, in for a pound...
I have no warranty as I am outside the US. They don't have a GMC dealer here, (we have a Chevy dealer but I wouldn't take my truck to them anyhow, even if it had a warranty.)
I'm going to see whether I can figure it out this weekend. I would much rather have spent this money on a set of GM 4.10's!

Have you done anything with the spindles recently like a drop kit or something may have something to do with the bump stops ot a hyd hose possibly when you hit the stops is it the same sound that is the fluid bypassing so it doesn't blow up the rack!

No, I haven't done dropped spindles or any other mods on the front suspension. it sounds exactly like when it hits the bump stop but not quite as loud, so I know something is putting load on the steering rack or pump.
I'm wondering if it might be either the steering u-joint or something in the column binding at that point which loads up the pump. it doesn't really hook but gets a bit tight and makes the kinda groaning "bypassing" noise until you turn it past that point and then it goes back to normal - that's why I was sure it was a tight spot in the rack. I'm going to check it out again later today to see if i can figure it out. This really sucks because my truck only has 8,800 miles on it so it shouldn't be giving me this kind of problem already.

I figured it out yesterday and it was honestly the dumbest I've felt in a long time. It took me about five minutes to fix too. The collapsible link (which is a metal tube which looks like an accordian that connects the steering shaft from the column to the one with the u-joint that goes to the steering rack) was bent slightly, and whenever I turned the wheel it would touch the header in one spot, because it wobbled over close to the header primary. I don't know how the link got bent, must have been that way from the factory, but since it only rubbed when I turned the wheel to the point where it touched, I couldn't see it until I had a friend turn the wheel and watched it. It was binding in that spot and that is why the pump was bypassing slightly (just like it would when it hits full lock).
Too f@cking bad I didn't take the time to check it out properly before assuming it was the steering rack, but I thought I would share my stupid experience so someone else can avoid the same problem, when they install headers.
Worse part is, it probably wouldn't have even touched if my headers were 1 3/4" rather than 1 7/8".
The fix was to use a couple of long pry bars and hold the steering shaft with one and pry the collapsible link a bit to straighten it out. After two minutes of work, it works like new again. At least I have a spare steering rack now!
