came across a 09 crew cab with the typical junk cam. I have an ly6 that im thinking of replacing it with. I had planned to swap the 5.3 heads to the 6.0 due to the port difference and I know the dod with have to be tuned out. Is there anything else im missing? Is this even a good idea?

 

Why would you want to swap the good ls3 style heads for stock 5.3s? I say just get the l92 intake and run that.

You'd be shooting yourself in the foot putting the 5.3 heads on it. Change the intake. It'll run ok with 5.3 heads but to get it's full potential LS3 heads and intake are only way to fly.

 

swapping a set of 243s on a 6.0 is no different then a LS2 setup


Delete the VVT from the Ly6 you shouldnt have to deal with DOD atleast when we did with our 09 Ly6 we didnt have DOD

 

I want to say ricklopez ran a prc 2.5 243 head on his LY6 an ran strong 1/4 mile times with it. Mid 12s if i recall correct

 

correct the ly6 does not have dod. I forgot I had an intake for it. Im going to pull the head on the 5.3 pretty soon and see if the cam is junk I have an afm lifter down. If its junk then in goes the 6.0 if not ill slap a lifter in it and drive it for a bit.
