When removing stock rear blocks on a '12 silverado, do you have to get aftermarket U bolts or will the stock ones work?

I didn't know if the threads would reach once they were removed.

 

iirc, No. I put a 4". drop on my dads trucks about a year ago and I think I just used shackles and removed block. but I've slept since then

 

Mine was close, but I had 2-3 threads left.

 

I removed my block and re-used stock U-bolts with no problems.

 

Same here I have done it on 3 different nnbs trucks from 2wds to 4wds and just kept the stock stuff with no issues at all.

 

mine didnt seem to tighten up all the way. But i cant remember what i ended up doing to fix it. I put a flip ki on since then. I think Skipperdaddy bought shorter u-bolts for his.

 

I used shorter hardware..

 

I just put some extra washers between the nut and the lower u bolt plate when I removed my blocks. I wanted to MAKE SURE I had enough thread. I will eventually put the factory NBS 2wd u bolts on. That is the 15002781 part number.

 

x2 on adding washers, thats all i did i think i used 4 or 5 per stud iirc. box of washers is cheaper then new bolts, unless yourdead set on factory appearence.

 

Same. I rattled the nuts on and they ran into the end of the thread on the bolt. Used some washers and it worked fine.
